Navigating Mindful Creativity

Dear Creative Soul,

Welcome to the first edition of "The Creative Way." I’m Zangmo Alexander, and I’m thrilled to have you join me on this journey toward integrating mindfulness with creativity.

From a young age, I faced the challenge of balancing a turbulent inner world with the serene act of creation. Growing up in Hove, UK, in a non-observant, dysfunctional Jewish family, and attending a Christian school, I found solace in art. Yet, it wasn’t always easy. Life’s difficulties often intruded, making it hard to maintain a mindful, creative practice.

One of my biggest breakthroughs came when I learned to embrace imperfection. I used to feel paralyzed by the fear that my work wasn’t good enough. It was only when I started allowing myself to create freely, without judgment, that I found true creative flow.

Many of you might feel the same way—whether it’s the fear of making mistakes, the lack of time, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the demands of daily life. I understand these feelings deeply. Over the years, I’ve developed techniques to help navigate these obstacles, and I’m excited to share them with you.

In this newsletter, we’ll explore practical tips, personal stories, and mindful exercises designed to help you find peace and creativity in every moment. Today, I want to share one simple practice that has been a cornerstone of my journey: setting aside just ten minutes a day for mindful sketching. Even on the busiest days, this practice centers my mind and opens up creative pathways.
